Abi Clarke
In the past,
i.e. in the early 2020s. In the past, comedians may have expected to perform
across the UK for a number of years prior to getting invited to join a
television panel and then selling an arena tour. This isn't the case right now.
One art form that can still be performed live is comedy, but there's no chance
of arena shows. One Bristol comedian has managed to attract an immense global
audience during lockdown through social media. Abi Clarke never set out to
become a famous internet personality. Abi Clarke, a 24 year old who lives in
Henbury with her parents, began making her first video online to "build a
community of similar people who would be interested in my stand-up
comedy." "I was performing regularly in Devon to men older than 50
who were not as enthusiastic about my Love Island Sims and Twilight references
so it was time to look online for younger women who could like my stand-up
comic." Abi, who lives in Henbury, with her parents, continues to post her
videos on Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. She gets inspiration from many
sources, such as conversations with strangers, chat room, and writes notes on
her smartphone.
